Interpreter services

UnitingCare Unifam (Unifam) supports clients who don’t speak English through assisting them to access an interpreter service.

Unifam utilises Translating & Interpreting Service (TIS) National.  The Department of Immigration and Citizenship provides this service for people who do not speak English and for the English speakers who need to communicate with them.

The Interpreter service is provided by telephone. Unfortunately Unifam is not in a position to access face-to-face Interpreter services.

If you are calling on behalf of a person who does not speak English you may discuss the option of using the TIS National. Our staff can arrange this in most circumstances.

Many of our staff have been trained by the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters Ltd in working effectively with Interpreters.
