UnitingCare Unifam provides a range of specialist parenting after separation services including Family Dispute Resolution (Mediation) as well as therapeutic, evidenced based counselling interventions to individuals, children, couples and families who present with a range of concerns.

Family Dispute Resolution (Mediation)

Unifam’s accredited mediators help separated couples and families reach agreements about children’s matters and/or property matters through Family Dispute Resolution (Mediation). Unifam’s mediators are accredited with the Australian Attorney-General’s Department, as such, they are authorised to issue Section 60I Certificates, which may be required by the court (in applications for parenting orders) as evidence the applicant has made a genuine attempt to resolve the dispute in Family Dispute Resolution.


Counselling

Unifam’s highly experienced therapists assist individuals, children, couples and families build and strengthen intimate and family relationships. Therapists also work with clients on a range of presenting concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship conflict, grief and loss, trauma and family and parenting issues.

Unifam’s Options for Adolescents and Families provides a mix of therapy and mediation-type interventions for disputes within families and to minimise the risk of young people leaving home.

The Men’s Matters program is a specialist men and family relationships service designed to deliver services to men and their families in an accessible and effective way.

Counselling also encompasses a range of specialist post-separation services including Family Relationship Counselling, The Anchor (Supporting Children after Separation) and Keeping Contact - Parenting Orders Program for highly entrenched cases with a history of non-compliance with parenting orders.
 

How to refer

To refer someone to Unifam or to find out more information about Unifam’s counselling and mediation services please contact any Unifam office, including Unifam’s Family Relationship Centres. Referrals must be made with the consent of the family.
